ONE DEAD AFTER TRAIN COLLISION (UPDATE)

SIOUX CITY POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE VICTIM KILLED IN THE COLLISION BETWEEN A CAR AND A FREIGHT TRAIN ON THE CITY’S NORTHSIDE THURSDAY MORNING.

POLICE SAY 38 YEAR OLD NICHOLAS STABER WAS DRIVING THE CAR THAT RAN INTO A TRAIN CAR NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF 31ST AND HIGHWAY 75.

STABER WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.

INVESTIGATORS SAY THE CAR WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHEN IT STRUCK THE TRAIN.

THE OFFICIAL CAUSE OF THE CRASH REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

KIRKPATRICK SAYS A MALE VICTIM WAS FOUND INSIDE THE CAR, WHICH WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHEN IT STRUCK THE TRAIN:

HIS NAME HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED.
