STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CAUSED WIDESPREAD DAMAGE THROUGH THE SIOUXLAND AREA EARLY THURSDAY EVENING.

A GRAIN BIN WAS BLOWN DOWN NEAR SALIX, STREET FLOODING TOOK PLACE IN SEVERAL COMMUNITIES INCLUDING PARTS OF SOUTH SIOUX CITY AND SGT. BLUFF, AND TREES WERE TAKEN DOWN IN CLIMBING HILL, HORNICK, SALIX AND HOMER.

DOWNED POWER LINES AFFECTED CUSTOMERS IN SLOAN AND SALIX.

MIDAMERICAN ENERGY REPORTED 545 CUSTOMERS IN SLOAN, 201 IN SALIX AND AROUND 200 MORE RURAL RESIDENTS LOST POWER DUE TO THE STORMS.
