A delegation from our Japanese sister city began their visit to Sioux City with breakfast and a gift exchange at city hall Thursday morning.

Ten middle school students and their adult chaperones from Yamanashi City will be visiting several local sites through Sunday.

Mayor Bob Scott says the cultural exchange is a great opportunity for both our city and the Japanese visitors:

The Japanese group will stay with eight host families while in the city and attend events like the Woodbury County Fair and an Explorers baseball game:

Mayor Scott hopes Sioux City can send a group to make a return visit in the near future:

OC…THIS TRADITION. ;14

In 2015, Sioux City Community Schools organized a visit and took seven middle school students to Yamanashi City.

Sioux City has hosted cultural exchanges since 2004.
