A CANDIDATE FOR THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IS DEFENDING COMMENTS HE POSTED ON FACEBOOK THAT HAVE BEEN VIEWED BY SOME AS “ANTI SEMITIC”.

MATTHEW UNG SAYS HIS COMMENTS WERE SARCASTIC WHEN HE DESCRIBED JEWS IN PART AS “STUPID WHO DIDN’T LEARN FROM THE HOLOCAUST TO RUN FURTHER FROM EUROPE THAN JUST ISRAEL”.

THAT BROUGHT A SWIFT REACTION FROM SIOUXLAND’S JEWISH COMMUNITY AND OTHERS WHO WERE APPALLED BY THE COMMENTS.

UNG CALLED KSCJ’S “OPEN LINE” FRIDAY MORNING AND SAYS HE IS BEING SMEARED AND HIS COMMENTS WERE TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT:

OC….FORCED TO SEE. ;06

UNG SAYS HE WAS RESPONDING BACK TO A HAMAS SUPPORTER WHO POSTED ON HIS FACEBOOK PAGE:

OC…HAMAS SYMPATHIZER. :18

UNG SAYS HE STANDS WITH ISRAEL AND WANTS TO FOCUS ON ISSUES INVOLVING WOODBURY COUNTY.

HE CALLED OUT SIOUX CITY COUNCILWOMAN RHONDA CAPRON AS ONE OF THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST HIM.

CAPRON SAYS SHE CALLED UNG TO TELL HIM TO BE CAREFUL WITH HIS COMMENTS:

OC….CAN’T ACCEPT THIS. :19

CAPRON SAYS UNG TOLD HER HE WAS BEING SARCASTIC. SHE’S SAYS THAT’S NOT AN EXCUSE:

OC….ABSOLUTELY WRONG. :23

UNG SAYS IT DID NOT OCCUR TO HIM THAT ARGUING WITH A HAMAS SUPPORTER ON FACEBOOK WOULD LEAD TO THIS CONTROVERSY.
