A SIOUX CITY MAN IS IN CUSTODY, CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING HIS ESTRANGED WIFE EARLY SATURDAY EVENING.

40 YEAR OLD CHANCE MICHAELS IS CHARGED WITH 1ST DEGREE KIDNAPPING, FELONY DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT WHILE PARTICIPATING IN A FELONY AND OTHER CHARGES RELATED TO THE INCIDENT

SIOUX CITY POLICE SAY MICHAELS FORCED 32 YEAR OLD RENETTE MICHAELS, HIS ESTRANGED WIFE, INTO A CAR AROUND 5:45PM SATURDAY IN THE 2700 BLOCK OF SOUTH CYPRESS AND FLED THE AREA.

OFFICERS LOCATED THE VEHICLE AT CHAUTAUQUA PARK WHERE THEY ALLEGE CHANCE MICHAELS HAD STRANGLED RENETTE.

INVESTIGATORS SAY CHANCE THEN FLED POLICE BY JUMPING INTO THE MISSOURI RIVER, BUT WAS CAPTURED.

POLICE SAY RENETTE SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES FROM THE ASSAULT.

CHANCE MICHAELS IS IN CUSTODY IN THE WOODBURY COUNTY JAIL.
