SIOUX CITY FIRE INVESTIGATORS SAY CARELESS SMOKING WAS TO BLAME FOR A HOUSE FIRE THURSDAY MORNING AT 2801 11TH STREET.

FIRE MARSHALL MARK AESOPH SAYS THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED TO A SMALL BASEMENT ROOM, AND A WATER LINE IN THE BASEMENT MELTED AND EXTINGUISHED THE BLAZE.

A 39 YEAR OLD MAN WAS FOUND UNCONSCIOUS ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE HOME.

HE WAS TRANSPORTED TO MERCY MEDICAL CENTER WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES.

THE NAME OF THE MAN HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED.
