The chairman of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will remain in that role twice as long as previously allowed.
The Iowa legislature’s Administrative Rules Review Committee gave final approval Tuesday to a rule rewrite, so chairman Jeff Lamberti can serve up to four consecutive years.
Representative Dawn Pettengill says it makes sense to keep Lamberti in place because the commission’s being sued by Penn National Gaming over their Sioux City casino.
OC…..already ongoing.” :09
Lamberti has served as commission chairman for the past two years.
The commission holds a leadership election each July, and the commission’s previous rules only allowed a chairman to serve two consecutive terms or two years.
Brian Ohorilko, administrator of the IRGC, says all five commission members think keeping Lamberti as chair is the best decision.
OC….very contentious litigation.” :04
Penn National Gaming has sued over the commission’s decisions to order its Argosy riverboat casino closed in Sioux City July 10th and to grant a new operating license for a land-based Hard Rock Casino that’s scheduled to open August 1st.
