SIOUX CITY’S ARGOSY RIVERBOAT CASINO WILL BE OPEN A FEW DAYS LONGER.

POLK COUNTY JUDGE ELIZA OVRUM HAS ISSUED A TEMPORARY STAY OF THE ORDER BY THE IOWA RACING AND GAMING COMMISSION TO CLOSE THE ARGOSY ON JULY 1ST.

UNDER THE STAY ISSUED BY THE JUDGE, THE ARGOSY WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL JULY 10TH.

THAT’S WHEN JUDGE OVRUM WILL RESUME A COURT HEARING ON THE ONGOING DISPUTE INVOLVING THE RIVERBOAT’S PARENT COMPANY PENN NATIONAL GAMING AND THE IOWA RACING AND GAMING COMMISSION.

JUDGE OVRUM HEARD TESTIMONY THURSDAY FROM PENN GAMING IN ITS APPEAL TO KEEP THE ARGOSY CASINO OPEN ON THE SIOUX CITY RIVERFRONT.

WEDNESDAY, THE IOWA RACING AND GAMING COMMISSION TURNED DOWN AN APPEAL FROM PENN GAMING TO DELAY ITS ORDER TO CLOSE THE CASINO ON JULY 1ST.

SIOUX CITY’S NEW HARD ROCK CASINO, WHICH IS PARTNERED WITH THE ARGOSY’S FORMER NON-PROFIT LICENSE HOLDER, MISSOURI RIVER HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT, WILL OPEN AUGUST 1ST.
