THE BIG SIOUX RIVER AT SIOUX CITY HAS CRESTED AND IS NOW RECEDING.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS THE RIVER CRESTED AT 6AM THIS (FRIDAY) MORNING AT 105.63 FEET AND HAD DROPPED TO NEAR 104.6 FEET BY MID MORNING.

THE CREST FELL SHORT OF WHAT WAS PREDICTED TO BE A RECORD LEVEL OF 109 FEET, EASING WIDESPREAD FLOODING FEARS ACROSS OUR AREA.

A SPOKESPERSON WITH THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA SAYS NATIONAL GUARDSMEN HAVE STARTED WORK TO RE-OPEN INTERSTATE 29 AT MCCOOK LAKE.

THERE’S NO OFFICIAL WORD YET ON WHEN THE INTERSTATE WILL OPEN.

WATER LEVELS ON OTHER STREAMS AND CREEKS IN THE AREA ARE ALSO FALLING BACK BELOW FLOOD LEVELS.
