Red Cross volunteers from Northwest Iowa are providing assistance to dozens of people in the region from a variety of disasters.
They are helping more than 10 people displaced in an hotel fire in Storm Lake on Monday night.
This is in addition to overnight sheltering provided to people in Cherokee, Rock Rapids, and Rock Valley because of Monday’s storms and flooding.
Regional Response Director, Bob Bartling says the Red Cross anticipates sheltering again on Tuesday night in the communities of Rock Valley and Rock Rapids, and will be working with local partners to provide meals to the community and response workers in the area.
The Red Cross continues to monitor other communities in anticipation of additional flooding across northwest Iowa.
