Two Woodbury County voters are among nine voters the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office has identified whose ballots were wrongly rejected in 2012 because of mistakes on its database of ineligible felons.
Woodbury County Auditor Pat Gill learned about the discrepancy from KSCJ News and had not been notified by the Secretary of State’s office:
OC….news to receive. :14
Gill hasn’t been given the names of the voters yet, but says errors from the state felon list have happened before:
OC…..were not convicted. :15
Gill says these latest errors will change his approach to checking the voter list in the June 3rd Iowa primary:
OC…..that felon list. :21
The state office said Monday that single voters from seven other counties were also affected, along with three previously identified voters from Cerro Gordo County.
In every case in the November 2012 election, they had never lost their voting rights and shouldn’t have been on the felon list, or had their rights restored and should have been taken off the list.
