A BILL TO ALLOW NEBRASKANS TO VOTE ON A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO PERMIT HORSE TRACKS TO REPLAY OLD VIDEO HORSE RACES PASSED ON ITS FINAL VOTE IN THE UNICAMERAL MONDAY.

THE MEASURE BY OMAHA STATE SENATOR SCOTT LAUTENBAUGH WAS APPROVED 30-17, WITH THE MINIMUM 30 VOTES NEEDED FOR PASSAGE.

LAUTENBAUGH SAYS THE BILL WOULD PROVIDE A BOOST TO THE STATE’S STRUGGLING HORSE RACE INDUSTRY AND SAVE JOBS:

OC…IN OUR STATE. :10

NEBRASKANS WILL VOTE IN NOVEMBER TO DECIDE IF THE STATE SHOULD LICENSE AND REGULATE WAGERING ON THE RACES.

IF APPROVED, THE AMENDMENT WOULD ALLOW THE INSTALLATION OF VIDEO BETTING TERMINALS AT RACE TRACKS LIKE ATOKAD PARK IN SOUTH SIOUX CITY.
