Several northwest Iowa fire departments battled a large grass fire Thursday afternoon that burned around 50 acres.

Six different departments were called around 1:30 p.m. to help fight the blaze at near the border between Plymouth and Sioux Counties about a mile north of Struble.

Le Mars Fire Chief Dave Schipper says a spark from a passing train is thought to
have started the fire.

Fire officials had to stop the trains while battling the blaze.
