WOODBURY COUNTY IS BEING ASKED TO HELP PROVIDE A TAX BREAK FOR A PROPOSED NEW GRAIN STORAGE PROJECT IN ANTHON.

PROJECT SPOKESPERSON KATHY SHOWALTER SAYS PLATINUM GRAIN IS PROPOSING A FACILITY THAT WOULD START WITH TWO BINS AND EVENTUALLY EXPAND TO GREATER CAPACITY IN THE FUTURE:

THAT EMPLOYEE WOULD MAKE 40 TO 60 THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR. A COUPLE OF PART TIME JOBS WOULD ALSO BE CREATED.

SHOWALTER HOPES THE COUNTY WILL CREATE A TAX INCREMENT FINANCING DISTRICT TO HELP MAKE THE PROJECT A REALITY:

THE TIF DISTRICT WOULD CREATE OVER 168-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN NEW REVENUE FOR WOODBURY COUNTY, AND ALSO GIVE PLATINUM GRAIN A 281-THOUSAND DOLLAR TAX BREAK ON THE PROJECT.

COUNTY SUPERVISORS WILL REVISIT THE PROJECT FOR A POSSIBLE VOTE IN TWO WEEKS.
