SIOUX CITY—THE BAND SHELL IN SIOUX CITY’S GRANDVIEW PARK IS NOW LISTED IN THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES.

THE 102 FEET WIDE, 51 FEET HIGH, $51-THOUSAND BANDSHELL WAS BUILT IN 1935 AND HAS HOUSED MANY SATURDAY IN THE PARK, MUNICIPAL BAND AND MOVIES IN THE PARK EVENTS.

SIOUX CITY HISTORIC PRESERVATION CHAIRMAN JIM JUNG HAS BEEN WORKING TO GET THIS DESIGNATION FOR TWO YEARS.

THE MONOHAN POST BAND PLAYED REGULARLY AT THE BAND SHELL AND BEGAN A FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN IN 1930, WHICH LED TO ITS SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION.

THE FACILITY RECENTLY UNDERWENT RESTORATION WORK WITH REPAIR OF THE STRUCTURE, PAINTING, PLAZA IMPROVEMENTS AND ACTIVATION OF THE ORIGINAL FOUNTAIN.
