LEMARS FIRE CAUSED BY ARSON, MAN ARRESTED

SIOUXLAND—A MAN HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH ARSON AFTER ALLEGEDLY CAUSING A WEDNESDAY MORNING FIRE IN LEMARS.

LEMARS FIRE-RESCUE WAS CALLED TO THE PRIDE GROUP AT 1240 LINCOLN STREET.

UPON ARRIVAL, FIREFIGHTERS ENCOUNTERED HEAVY SMOKE AND FIRE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE BUILDING IN A BACK HALLWAY.

AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE THERE WERE 49 RESIDENTS IN THE BUILDING AND TWO STAFF MEMBERS.

ALL WERE ACCOUNTED FOR OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING EXCEPT FOR TWO RESIDENTS.

FIREFIGHTERS ATTACKED THE FIRE FROM THE SOUTH END OF THE BUILDING AND ALSO MADE ENTRY TO THE SECOND FLOOR AND RESCUED THE TWO RESIDENTS WHO WERE UNACCOUNTED FOR.

AN INVESTIGATION SHOWS A FIRE WAS INTENTIONALLY SET IN THE SOUTH HALLWAY.

20 YEAR OLD ZACHARY DEAN HENRY HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE ARSON FOR INTENTIONALLY SETTING THIS FIRE.

THE SOUTH HALLWAY OF THE BUILDING SUSTAINED HEAVY SMOKE AND FIRE DAMAGE.

DAMAGE HAS BEEN ESTIMATED AT $20-THOUSAND.
